Abstract
A comparison is made between the consistency of the magnetic properties obtainable in Mumetal produced by the powder-metallurgical method and in Mumetal processed from vacuum-melted ingots. The standard deviation in initial permeability was similar for both materials. A Radiometal-type alloy was also studied, in the sintered state only.
For Mumetal, a survey of the effects of composition has been made, and the range where maximum initial permeability is to be expected is defined. The influence of some processing variables is assessed for both alloys.
