Abstract
There have been several advances in the electrowinning and electrorefining of copper and these are clearly reflected in the construction and working conditions of new industrial plants and also in the numerous papers that have been published on the subject. They have been mainly concerned with the exploitation of new techniques for better control of electrolytes by incorporating ion exchange, and solvent extraction into the circuit, devising new methods for agitation of the electrolyte, using higher current densities, adapting new materials for electrodes and tank construction, stripping of cathodes, and finally automation.
