Abstract
In Spark-Machining, which is also called Electric-Discharge Machining (EDM), sparks are used to remove material in a closely controlled manner from an electrically conducting workpiece immersed in a liquid dielectric. It is a machining process in the same sense as conventional milling or turning, &c., but as no contact with, or motion relative to, the workpiece is necessarily involved, spark-machining can achieve unorthodox operations impossible with mechanical tools.
