Abstract
The fracture of alloys in certain chemical environments at static stresses appreciably below those that would cause fracture in the absence of the specific environment, has been the subject of an increasing number of experimental investigations over the last decade. It would be impossible in the present context to review all the published papers, and a selection has therefore been made which includes those that appear to contribute to the continuing discussion on the mechanisms involved in stress-corrosion.
