Abstract
Interest in titanium-base alloys as structural materials has inspired many studies of their phase relationships. These have provided the background essential to the development of commercial alloys, but have also revealed some unexpected, and still to some extent unexplained, aspects that are of considerable scientific interest. The purpose of the present review is to indicate the present state of knowledge, and to point out some of the more interesting implications of the observations made.
