Abstract
The engineering requirements of process-control systems for continuous-casting works are discussed. Based on modern machine concepts characterized by high reliability of mechanical components, modular machine parts allowing quick and easy maintenance, and well defined and controllable process elements, a possible further increase in economies through the implementation of an integrated computer system is postulated. The advantages of automating different parts are described and details of a practical integrated computer system are presented.
