Abstract
The effect of stress on transformation is studied through a series of dilation experiments. The results obtained are used to modify models of transformation kinetics, transformation plasticity, and elastoplastic constitutive relations so as to predict residual stresses after quenching. Results of the simulation show that the modified models are fit to predict residual stresses after quenching, which agree well with experimental results if both transformation plasticity and stress induced transformation are taken into account.
