Abstract
Diffusion bonding is an attractive joining process, both for thick section material and for sheet, when combined with superplastic forming. The diffusion bonding parameters for IMI 834 have been investigated. Joints made at 990°C, and at 950°C with post-bonding heat treatment, exhibited parent metal mechanical properties. The sensitivity to bond quality of tensile, shear, and impact testing is compared.
