The aim of the present work is to study the influence of the microstructures obtained by thermal treatment on the corrosion resistance of a 22·4Cr–5·4Ni (wt-%) duplex stainless steel in the presence of chloride ions, using the potentiokinetic reactivation test. The results enable the relationship between the area ratio of activation and reactivation curves and microstructure to be determined, and can be used to plot the time–temperature–transformation diagram for these steels.
