Abstract
The grain size dependence of the steady state stress versus strain rate relationship at 1123 K for a nuclear grade AISI 316 stainless steel has been studied using an incremental extension rate tensile testing technique. Both grain boundary strengthening and weakening effects were observed. The results are in good agreement with the available results on the effects of grain size on creep properties of this material at 973 K studied by constant load creep testing.
