Abstract
Previous work on the constitution of gold-thallium alloys has been reviewed by Hansen and Anderko. The phase diagram adopted consists of a simple eutectic. For the eutectic temperature and composition Hansen and Anderko preferred the values of 131°C and 72.3 at.-%Tl (73.0 wt-% TI), which were obtained in 1905 by Levin, to the values 142°C and 71.5 at.-%Tl (72.2 wt-%TI) proposed more recently by Hajiček. The allotropic transformation of thallium from the low-temperature hcp form to bcc was indicated as occurring at 232°C but no account was taken of the effect of this transformation on the form of the phase diagram.
