Abstract
The internal stress in the steady-state creep of homogeneous and γ′-precipitation strengthened Fe- Ni-Cr austenitic alloys is discussed. Internal stress, measured by the strain transient dip technique, τi =τDIP’ as well as approximated by the applied stress value, τi=τ, is correlated with structural data obtained from transmission electron microscopy. A comparison of both correlations shows that the internal stress values measured by the strain transient dip technique, τDIP, are probably a better approximation of the internal stress generated by the structure.
