Aluminium seems to be misplaced in the periodic table. It is usually put below boron, a metalloid with which it has little in common. Aluminium should be transferred to be above scandium so that, together with the alkali metals and the alkaline earth metals, these metals represent the typical metals with related properties and electronic configuration. Other suggestions are made to render the table more effective as an aid to chemists and metallurgists.
