Abstract
Cryogenics, the science and technology of low temperatures, has developed in many areas of benefit to the community since Dewar invented the double walled, vacuum insulated, silvered glass flask in 1892. Further significant benefits will follow from today's development of ceramic superconductors, cold electronics, new refrigeration techniques and new materials.
