Abstract
From a philosophical point of view the unity of science is a valid concept which is here analysed and discussed. Technology assessment is vital to the future of civilisation and it must include political and ethical long range responsibilities. Theoretically, the unifying principles of science show themselves in the languages, the laws and the methods of science and are here considered. Transdisciplinarity is lateral thinking, it helps to overcome the splintering of disciplines and reinstates the original unity of science.
