The last review in this series covered the development of the major non-ferrous metallurgical processes to 1970. In reviewing the literature for the present review, the authors concluded that it would be more useful as a compilation of sources of data on metallurgical systems which would otherwise be difficult to locate and a summary of the physicochemical treatment of this data. Most of the early part of this review is designed according to this principle, and only the three last sections are devoted to specific areas of extraction metallurgy, where developments of processes and plants have been so rapid as to alter the situation materially since the previous review.
