Abstract
In previous reviews an attempt has been made to cover the whole corrosion field for the year in question. However, because of the difficulty of giving a balanced appraisal of progress over such a wide area, the present review and future reports will cover selected fields for the preceding five years. The first of the new series is concerned with the reactions between metals, alloys or coatings and gaseous environments, particularly at elevated temperatures.
