Standard specifications, codes of practice and other standards documents contain much information of value in countering corrosion. Reference is made to standards that discuss the design and choice of materials, control of environment, the preparation of surfaces and their protection by non-metallic and metallic coatings, and cathodic and anodic protection. Relevant methods of test quoted in standards are briefly discussed.
