Abstract

Various methods of measuring surface profiles are surveyed and a simple instrument developed for this purpose is described. Results of some of the tests carried out with the instrument are also given. Results of a simple salt-spray test on specimens cleaned with different grades of shot and then painted, show that surface profile may influence paint performance.
