Abstract
Magnesium alloy was welded with normal wire and activated flux coated wire. Weld bead penetration, arc voltage, arc profiles and welding arc electronic temperature were researched. Weld bead penetration, arc voltage and welding arc electronic temperature increased when activated flux coated wire was used. It is also found that the welding arc constricted in flux coated wire weld. It is believed that deep weld penetration associated with flux coated wire in this experiment is caused by arc constriction.
