Abstract
The EPMA European Hard Materials Group (EHMG) held the third of its themed WINTEREV meetings at Fraunhofer IWS, Dresden on 23–24 February 2006, report BRYAN ROEBUCK and PETER BREWIN. Hosted by Dr Lutz-Michael Berger of the Institute for Materials and Beam Technology at Fraunhofer IWS, the meeting was attended by 17 people from 11 organisations from industry, academia and RTOs, who debated issues associated with structure–property relationships in an informal setting. Dr Berger also led, with colleagues, an informative tour of the Fraunhofer laboratories, particularly to see their advanced HVOF and laser deposition equipment.
