Abstract
This work demonstrates a sustainability assessment of stabilisers for use in PVC pipes. The two key stabilisers selected compare calcium–zinc and so-called organically based stabiliser systems (OBS by Crompton). The methodology of the work is based on a robust set of sustainability principles known as The Natural Step (TNS) methodology. The sustainability assessment covers four steps: (i) Discussion of objectives and strategies. (ii) Analysis of current operations based on the TNS System conditions. (iii) Establishment of a plan and possible actions. (iv) Prioritisation and management.
