Abstract
A pentagonal dodecahedron (PD) model based on the interconnected beam structure of open celled foam was considered for calculation of apparent resistivity of metallic foams. According to the PD model, the mathematical relationship between apparent resistivity and structure parameters (cell size, length or thickness of cell wall) of metallic foams was derived. The mathematical equation showed that the apparent resistivity increased with the resistivity of the compact metals and the porosity of metallic foams. In addition, the calculated evaluations were proved to be in approximate agreement with experimental results of Ni–Cr foams and Ni foams.
