Abstract
In this personal commentary, Mike Wyldes, Director of Midlands Ultrasound and Medical Services (MUMS) Ltd and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Birmingham Heartlands & Solihull Hospital, charts his personal feelings and experiences relating to the recognition of ultrasound 'soft markers' for Trisomy 21. He explains the rationale underpinning development and implementation of the recommendations of the West Midlands Regional Ultrasound Group and publication of their booklet Soft Markers—a Guide for Professionals.
