Abstract
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound continues to grow in importance as a tool that may be used for the detection and characterization of focal liver lesions. The enhancement characteristics of the more common focal liver lesions are predictable given the pathophysiology of the lesion and mechanism of action of microbubbles, allowing for a confident diagnosis to be made. We present a review of the commonly encountered enhancement characteristics of a variety of focal liver lesions, which may be seen in everyday practice.
