Abstract
The pressure variation monitoring technique (PVMT) has been used to measure the rate of vinyl chloride monomer sorption and desorption into and from poly(vinyl chloride) resins. Data obtained from PVMT at temperatures of 50, 70, and 90°C are compared with data obtained via gas chromatography and gravimetry techniques. It is suggested that PVMT is simple to handle for routine analysis and esay to build on a laboratory scale compared with other established techniques. Additionally, the advantages and disadvantages of PVMT compared with known routine analysis techniques such as gas chromatography and gravimetry are detailed.
