Phase change dynamics, in particular quiescent crystallinity development and thermal history have been predicted for both polypropylene and heat set poly(ethylene terephthalate). The results obtained are applicable to both blow moulding and thermoforming as the solidification behaviour of these processes is equivalent. Crystallinity predictions are compared with experimental results obtained on an industrial scale blow moulding machine.
