Abstract
The behaviour of refractories under cyclic mechanical impact has been investigated, and on the basis of this investigation a novel theory of fatigue is presented. This new theory can be readily used for improving understanding of the complex fracture behaviour of refractories under alternating loads. Experimental results are then used to validate the theory. Very good agreement has been found between the calculated results based on the theory and data determined experimentally.
