Rates of accumulation a and annihilation β of dislocations, defined in the differential equation dρ/dδ=α/bd–βρ have been evaluated by determination of the true stress–true strain curve of the metal, direct measurements of dislocation-cell diameter d, and determination of dislocation density ρ by a calorimetric method.
