Abstract
The size of starting stock is related to its source and the plant limitations of the rolling mills. Plant configurations for the rolling mills are described, together with mill specifications. Typical rolling reductions, pass reductions, and allowances are related to alloy groups, and typical tolerances and yields are quoted. Types of heat treatment and finishing operations are described, together with the importance of material identification and a general comment on trends in customer requirements.
