Abstract
The pendulum-rolling process has been applied to cold rolling of continuously cast phosphor bronze strip. The operation, which has been carried out on a production basis for the last two years, is consideredfrom the operational aspect. Manning, output, maintenance, product quality, and power requirements are discussed. Reference is made to implementation of a modified rolling technique which has resulted in significant improvement in the life of the roll assembly, increasing the time between work-roll regrinds from about 1·5h to a maximum of 100 h. The operation described is rolling 150 × 9 mm continuously cast and coiled phosphor bronze section to 1·3mm and experimentally to 0·75 mm in one pass.
