The properties of some hypoeutectic copper-hafniumzirconium alloys have been measured following unidirectional solidification. The data have been treated analytically to confirm and locate breaks in the properties as a function of alloy composition. These breaks are discussed in terms of differences in the microstructure of the alloys.
