Gibbs energies of formation of tungsten and chromium silicides have been determined at 1500 and 1650K, respectively, using the Knudsen-effusion vapour-pressure method. The values obtained have been combined with data from the literature and the whole evaluated to give sets of self-consistent thermodynamic properties. The various inconsistencies between the data from the different investigations are discussed.
