The heat capacity of cobalt has been measured over the temperature range 600–1600 K and the enthalpy of the hcp→fcc transformation has also been studied. Estimates of the magnetic enthalpy and entropy have been obtained and a derived value of the number of unpaired spins agrees well with magnetic data.
