Serrated yielding during the deformation of polycrystalline magnesium–tO wt.-% silver solid solution is reported. The effect of testing temperature and soluteatom concentration on the deformation behaviour is discussed and the dislocation structure developed during jerky flow is examined. The serrated yielding in this alloy is attributed to the locking of mobile dislocations by the diffusion of silver atoms during the deformation.
