An expression is derived for the coarsening rate of metal carbide particles in a dissimilar metallic matrix. The constraint applied to the analysis is that the particles contain equiatomic proportions of their constituents. It is concluded that both the magnitude and apparent activation energy of the coarsening rate are dependent upon the temperature and composition of the alloy.
