The activation energy for isothermal transformation to martensite has been determined for three Fe-Ni-Mn alloys. The values obtained have been correlated with others, and the predicted linear relationship between activation energy and driving force is observed. The results also suggest that the effectiveness of the martensite embryos is not very sensitive to changes in composition.
