Abstract
The microstructure evolution during the coiling of low carbon steel sheet is analysed. For this purpose, a thermal finite element formulation coupled with a phase change model and a kinetic law for the reaction of the precipitated aluminium nitride (AlN) is described. The numerical results obtained in this work are experimentally validated. The influence of the phase change and the coiling temperature on the cooling rates and on the AlN precipitated fraction are shown.
