Using a powder hot pressing technique, high strength Al85La10Ni5 alloy specimens of size 20 (dia.) × 10 mm have been obtained under certain conditions. The pressing conditions for the alloy with the optimum mechanical properties are: temperature 753-853 K, time 15 min, and stress 1.2 GPa. The high strength of the alloy is attributed to second phase strengthening and fine grain strengthening. The highest ultimate compressive strength is 950 MPa at pressing temperature 773 K.
