In this study, the inhibiting effect of amino acids on the corrosion of cobalt in H2SO4 was investigated. Nineteen amino acids with different properties were used. Corrosion rates were determined by extrapolating anodic and cathodic Tafel regions to the corrosion potential and by the linear polarisation method. The best results were obtained with glutamic acid, with other compounds showing varying degrees of inhibition.
