Abstract
The thermodynamic behaviour of iron in molten sodium sulphate is examined by calculating potential–pO2− diagrams at 1173 K. The formation of oxides and sulphides as corrosion products is taken into account. Some conclusions resulting from an analysis of these diagrams are discussed in terms of corrosion.
