Abstract
Single edge notch fatigue precracked specimens of cold drawn prestressing tendon have been dead loaded in tension in various realistic environments at the free corrosion potential to assess SCC resistance. Stress corrosion occurs readily in distilled water, and, with a depression of KISCC in saturated Ca(OH)2, with additions of NaCl. KISCC is still further depressed in some environments by coupling to zinc.
The appearance of the stress corrosion fracture surfaces is variable, depending both on environment and heat treatment.
