Abstract
Sulphuric acid is concentratedfrom 70 to 95% by boiling in cast iron pots which are heated externally by oil burners. Each pot is 2·5 m diameter by 2 m deep and contains about 10 tonnes of acid. A technique has been developed for applying anodic protection under these conditions and has now been in use for some two years on several of these pots, with satisfactory results.
