Abstract
Very slightly abridged version of the Address delivered to the Exposition of the Industrial Technologies at the Royal Institution, 21 Albemarle Street, London W1, on 11 March, 1975.
The Committee for Industrial Technologies was set up in 1972 to advise the then DTI, now Department of Industry, on the promotion of the economic benefits of multi-disciplinary technologies, which included corrosion technology, materials handling, terotechnology and tribology. The Exposition, presented by the Department of Industry and the Royal Institution of Great Britain, 10-14 March, 1975, was designed to generate increased awareness of the technologies, and to encourage the better application of knowledge already available in the four industrial technologies.
