Abstract
Stress corrosion cracking of α-brass has been shown to occur in (NH4)2SO4 solution when the metal is anodically polarised, the time and mode of cracking being pH and potential dependent. Two regions of film formation were observed, one between pH 6 and 9 and the second at pH about 12·5.
