Abstract
Since Hickling first published his potentiostat circuit thirty years ago use of the instrument and its associated techniques has become widespread and nearly 100 papers have been published describing suitable circuitry. Recent developments involving refined electronic circuitry have included the use of power transistors for high output currents, operational amplifiers and solid state techniques to simplify construction and servicing andvarious time-based signal generators to programme potentials and measure transients. This paper reviews these developments.
