Abstract
Methods for reducing the corrosion of zinc metal by vapours from cured styrene-based polyester resins have been studied. The use of reducing acceleratoss or of non-oxidiiing catalyst systems is much less effective than the use of additives which behave as acid acceptors, notably sodium bicarbonate. The influence of resin structure is also important, and a substantially non-corrosive styrene-based resin formulaiion and catalyst system has been devised.
