Abstract
The increased rate of corrosion of steel owing to the presence of sulphur, ammonia, and chlorine in the atmosphere has been studied by many investigators throughout the world. This review discusses critically the existing hypotheses regarding its mechanism and attempts to correlate the work of various investigators.
