Abstract
One rural school district in central Oregon addressed the challenges of providing a quality, inclusive education for one deaf child by bringing together professionals from the district, the regional program for deaf children, and the college with a teacher preparation program in deaf education. The teacher educator conducted an assessment of the child and used the results of the assessment as the basis for an staff development workshop designed to enable the school district to provide an appropriate education for the child at present and to offer a foundation of knowledge for the district to make future decisions.
