Abstract
Ultrasound evaluation and imaging of the fetus is valuable in diagnosing anomalies associated with diabetes mellitus, including neural tube defects, cardiac anomalies, and renal anomalies. These anomalies can be diagnosed and monitored sonographically, making ultrasound an essential component of obstetric care for diabetic women. A literature review of the effects of diabetes mellitus on pregnancy and the fetus was conducted. The importance of ultrasound in the detection and evaluation of anomalies associated with diabetes mellitus is also included.
